Some loudmouth dude by the name of Rabbi Yehudah Levin has some strong message for congress: “Don’t you dare, don’t you dare include baby-killing funds in health care or any other legislation,” he said at a pro-life rally gathered at the 37th March for Life. “We will throw you all the Hell out, so help us God. Massachusetts will look like a picnic.” Furthermore, he has advice for all of America: Orthodox Jewish families typically “bring in 7-14 children per family,” he said to the crowd. “God loves it. You can also have another holy baby.” He heard it from God himself, I’m sure.
A number of rabbis traveled to D.C. to demand that Sholom Rubashkin be released on bail as he awaits sentencing on the 86 counts of financial fraud that a federal jury found him guilty of last fall. He might end up with a particularly harsh sentence, 21-27 years in prison, and as a father of ten, that would be seriously hard on his family. And while we’re no fans of felons, Chasidic or otherwise, whatever happened to ankle bracelets? Let the gentleman get some quality time with his family before being gang-raped in the slammer.
Ed Koch isn’t a great fan of Leonard Cohen. Then again, I was never a great fan of Ed Koch. So even though I take it a bit personally – Cohen is in my very humble opinion one of the greatest songwriters of our time – I guess we’re now even. Koch claims he’s never heard of Cohen before he went to see him last year at a concert in Madison Square Garden, which makes one wonder, has Koch been living under a rock? Which makes one wonder even more, what business does Koch have writing movie reviews for The Atlantic, being that his knowledge of some of the most important cultural phenomena are able to pass so easily under his radar. He still adores Joan Baez, as if the world stopped turning in the Bob Dylan era.

Rabbi Levin’s address was comedy at its finest. “We dare you” had the same sound as when my Mom used to dare me, and I knew she was powerless to do anything. And the shofar blowing, God save me. That was freakin hillarious. Its all too good to be true1
I am a personal acquaintance of R’ Levin. Although he comes off as a buffoon, you should know that he is a real nice man.
I’m sure he’s real nice. As the disclaimer indicates, we make no claims to proper journalistic etiquette. But if he has a good slice of Green’s kokosh cake for us, we’d certainly be willing to re-evaluate our opinion of the man.
That man had it in for Felder back at the last electiom too. He always rubs me the wrong way. Oops, did I just say that?
BB- He has more than one slice of Greens kukush cake for you. How else does he maintain his amazing girth? What is it with you and Greens Kukush cake?
Shtreimel, hahah. Thats the beauty of him. As much as he sounds nutts and crazy, he is a real fine person when you deal with him on a personla level. He is very anti gay and everything, but you could say to his face that youre gay and he’ll give you the proper respect that a human being deserves. He is a zealot, dont get me wrong, but I guess he never adopted the Hungarian/Inter-land/Satmar/Reb Hillel Kolemyer approach to kan’nues.
