Sitting in the Dark with the Lights On

I sit in the dark
With the lights on
It eats at me
But does not get satiated
Exactly what, is a mystery to me
I yearn to be free
Imprisoned in my home
The prison, my flesh and bone
Sentenced to life
Instead of death
Is their poison in my blood?
Rushing to my heart?
Can there be life
Without vitality
With no strength to fight?
I missed the flight
Now heading towards earth
At the speed of light
Hope erased from my dictionary
Along with denial
Waiting to drop out of sight
Out of mind
An out of body experience
