The Vertle: Victim

By Unpious.com Staff Writer · June 7, 2011

Wordle.net produces a word image or a “word cloud” from any text, where the size of each word in the cloud equates to the number of times it is used in that piece. The larger the word, the more times it appears, the smaller the word, the fewer times it appears. The Vertle uses Wordle to create interesting word clouds for Unpious readers.

Today’s Vertle is: VICTIM

Here are some quotes we found noteworthy from each of the text sources used:

“The seizure of this tragedy by non-Orthodox zealots as a means to besmirch not only the revered Skverer Rebbe and all of his followers, the majority of whom aren’t capable of even hurting a fly, but to also attack all of Orthodoxy…. The matchless Torah, avodah, and gemillas chasodim of this G-d fearing community are what irks (non-Orthodox zealots), not what one ruthless individual of Skver allegedly perpetrated against another.”- A Visit to the Village of New Square by Ami Magazine, Vos Iz Neias

“If a New Square resident crosses the rebbe or breaks one of the village’s many unwritten rules, one New Square resident told JTA, his neighbors will treat him “like a goy” — not saying hello in the morning, not answering his questions or acknowledging his presence….a dissident faces even more harassment: His house windows might be broken, his car’s tires slashed and his kids expelled from school. “Everyone’s fighting because they think the rebbe is God,” he said. “I’m not going to fight, even for God. They make sick people because of the rebbe.”- In New York shtetl where arson attack occurred, the rebbe’s word is law, JTA
