News Roundup – Thurs. 9/1/11

By Unpious.com Staff Writer · September 1, 2011

Welcome back segregation! The regression continues as Charedi members of Jerusalem’s city council plan on opening a new local shuk with separate hours for men and women.

In a match made in heaven, God’s up and coming BFF met with God’s fave political strategists. L’Torah, chupah and irrationality!

You got to admire the balls of those Chabadniks, although being mikarev Strauss-Kahn probably doesn’t offer quite the same heavenly rewards (read: Oprah buddy, TV show, bestsellers) as mikareving say, Michael Jackson.

NYTimes columnist David Brooks introduces the word “heimish” to the goyishe velt.

Did you know that for every hundred people you make frum, you get one blow job from a pre-Bar Mitzvah boy? Rabbi Hopfer pretty much says so. This, and a who’s who of the yeshivish world in a damning op-ed on sexual abuse cover up.

Indiana Jones-wanna-be Rabbi Menachem Youlus was charged with wire and mail fraud after his fantastical stories of rescuing Torahs from concentration camps were revealed to be as authentic as the movie character he claimed to emulate.

The East Coast earthquake was caused by gay marriage and the hurricane by the US’s mistreatment of Israel. Those twenty people killed in a flood in Nigeria earlier this week? That’s God pissed at you for taking his parking spot.

I was waiting for you to note his so I could comment. I have a personal connection to this. No, I had nothing to do with the alleged fraud. I am a member of a synagogue that built an entire two year project around a Torah aquired from Rabbi Youlus. I wanted to write about that experience and the aftermath but alas, I’m about to travel again and don’t have time now. I’ll pick this up when I get back.

In the meantime, here’s the NPR piece on it. I was driving home from a trip when it came on the radio and I nearly swerved off the beltway.
