Comments of the Week

Some are funny, some are intriguing and some are just spot-on. The following are this week’s gems that we find worthy of repeating, just because we like them so much.

avrohom: If you don’t want to slaughter (or cause to have slaughtered) an “innocent” chicken, then don’t do it. You’re not required to. There are halachically acceptable alternatives.

siyum hashas: that section reminds of my old days as a young boy in cheder, and later in yeshiva, when I used to search for all “fishy” gemara passages that could offer some information on sexual activity, the most taboo issue in the Chassidic community.

Lissa: Personally- as a woman I don’t fast – I haven’t ever. I think God loves me anyway …call me crazy.

J.: My rabbi learns all that and wears jeans. Not when he leads services on Shabbat and holidays, of course. But yep, he wears jeans. So do all the other Conservative rabbis I know.

Todd: Jeans are the creation of a Jew (and a real mensch). Knickers and shtreimels are the clothes of Jew-hating Poles. Who would you trust?

Farchapt Innetz: I once yelled at a grocery manager for treating his Hispanic employee like a piece of shit, I said “you know you are planting roots to antisemitism!” he responded “nah, his grandfather was already an Anti-Semite.” to which I said, “that’s because your grandfather acted like you!”

Mayer Titz: …maybe he had a wine barrel fetish and would rather play with 3 bitches vs. 1
