Comments of the Week

Some are funny, some are intriguing and some are just spot-on. The following are this week’s gems that we find worthy of repeating, just because we like them so much.
Der Bik: First of all, Ms. Fence describes herself as astride a fence. Not a pyramid or a dome or a twelve-sided prism. A fence. Which is something that has only *two* sides.
Velvel Belkin: I find it condescending when people suggest, try modern orthodoxy, hmm you don’t think someone who has sacrificed a lifestyle, family, sometimes a wife etc hasn’t thought of that.
Nate: It makes us feel supported to know that others have gone through the same struggles, or have noticed the same flaws in orthodoxy that we had. Also, the writing is usually damn good, and the articles are just plain fun to read.
Lissa: Let’s be open- minded. Truly open-minded. Not all religious Jewboys are obnoxious to non – Jews, and not everything about OJ is awful.
Anonymous: Remember the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.
Critic V: Even within Halacha – what is the bathwater and what is the baby. Whenever I consider the question, I realize so much of Halahca actually started as bathwater and became the norm, does that make it part of the baby too – that would mean the chumros of today are the Halachos of tomorrow.
