Comment of the Week

We hereby award “Comment of the Week” to the following intriguing/funny/spot-on comments posted on Unpious this week. Feel free to recognize your own favorite in the comments below.

Levi Keller: In New York, it is impossible to have sex without a roach seeing it.

Pinny Gold: “Why should you reject the Torah of truth because someone attached fairy tales to it?” Which part of the Torah does NOT have some fairy tales attached to it?

Yitch: I suspect Rabbi S. enjoyed talking about dirty pictures with yeshiva boys.

Ksil: correction: “It generally indicates some level of immaturity and instability. It’s a rough rule of thumb. Getting married at 23 yrs old or younger is absurd, and churning out baby after baby with no money or plan is irresponsible.”

Critic V: I never dreamed of skipping a mincha or ma’ariv until the Rosh Yeshiva gave a shmooze about how he can’t understand how so many bachurim skip davening. It made me think, ‘really, religious people just skip davening maybe it’s not so bad after all’.

Todd: The evidence for evolution, which is not a religion and not incompatible with being religious, is vast. It is robust. It comes from many different independent sources which support each other. The fact of evolution is no longer in question. The questions are about mechanisms, rates, the histories of particular lineages and other such things. The evidence for religion – any religion – is the thin end of nothing whittled down to a point.

Critic V – I had very similar experiences, there were many things I’d never dreamt of doing, until a Rebbe or Menahel railed against it, and I’d think – really, that’s a possibility?
